Tarrus Riley - File
Tarrus Riley's recent five-date performances across the UK have spurred chart action in his latest dancehall hit, 'Summer Fling'.
The song was produced by Jordan McClure of Chimney Records. It is currently number four on the BBC1Xtra Dancehall chart in the UK.
Commenting on the song, Riley said, "I love dancehall and nothing is wrong with a song of this nature. It's something different from what my fans are accustomed to hearing me sing, and I will continue to do more dancehall songs. I am a musical artiste and people from all over the world are doing different forms of music".
reeling out hits
Riley's UK jaunt saw him reeling out the hits at five different venues. "We did five shows and every show was sold out. What I realised about performing in England was the fact that our music continues to grow," said Riley.
He added, "We did shows in Birmingham, Manchester and in London, and the fans came out ready to have fun". During his sets, Riley performed his current and former hits including Armageddon Time, She's Royal, Summer Fling and Lion Paw.
Riley, who recently covered Beres Hammond's 1980's hit Groovy Little Thing, was excited about sharing stage with the veteran crooner during the UK shows. "I sang with Beres on stage, so that, for me, was one of the highlights of the five shows. We also did a tribute to Gregory Isaacs and Sugar Minott during the performance," he said.
Aside from Summer Fling's current chart success, Riley is also enjoying multiple chart action with songs including Come Ova and Armageddon Time.
Come Ova,which was produced by Seanizzle, is currently number one in several Caribbean countries. A video for the song was recently directed by Storm Saulter and is expected to be released shortly.
Armageddon Time was produced by Romeich. The accompanying video is number five on TEMPO's Cross Caribbean Countdown and number eight on Suzie Q's Video Alley Reggae Top Ten.
Riley's more recent recordings include Stronger for Chimney Records; Rebel which was produced by Frenchie for Maximum Sounds; and Karma which was produced by ZJ Chrome.
